My Story

Joseph W. Viserta

Director of Liturgy & Music

Before coming to Resurrection Parish, I was the Music Director for Holy Rosary Parish on Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx for two short years.  At this time as well I also taught Music at Our Lady of the Assumption (OLA) in Pelham Bay.  Before this short stint in the Bronx, I was the Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Joseph's Parish in Middletown, New York.  This is my home parish where I was born and raised and I enjoyed the 13 years that I spent teaching music in the parish school as well as planning and directing all of the liturgies and choirs for the parish.    I have a Bachelor's degree in Liturgical Music from Stetson University in Deland, Florida and in 2011 I received my Master's in Church Music Studies from St. John's in Queens, New York.  Most people think the most interesting thing about me is that before pursuing my career in church music and Liturgy I received a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.  i also received my private pilot's license with instrument rating, my commercial license with my single and Multi engine rating a well as my CFI and CFII.    Currently I reside in Whitestone, New York.  I have three children ages 23, 21, and 16 and in my spare time I enjoy going for a Sunday afternoon sight seeing flight or just relaxing on the beach. See you in Church!
